公共工程和运输部发言人华森速利亚表示，金边-西港高速公路（简称“金港高速”）建设工程正在有序开展中。至今，金港高速已完成工程总量的63%。

2019年3月22日，由中国投资承建的金港高速动工建设。全长约190公里，为全封闭高速公路，设计和施工皆采用中国标准，双向四车道。金港高速总投资额20.19亿美元，为建造－运营－移交（B0T）项目。

金港高速建成后，从首都金边前往西哈努克省的行车时间将只需约两个小时，将结束柬埔寨没有高速公路的历史，为柬埔寨的社会经济发展发挥重要作用。
